Read Kendra, Chapter 5. For Tuesday I need some questions for the owner of K & B Cattle Company. Think about what you might want to know to design a logo for him.

Magazine Cover (color harmony)

Choose a recent magazine article, and create a cover for it. This should be an 8.5” x 11” sheet which uses color harmony to complement the concepts within the text. In order to do this, create a color palette. They must decide what purpose their color palette will serve, and after reviewing the color basics choose a dominant color and accent colors with which to work. Then shades should be selected and varied to create contrasts of light and dark for dramatic effect, compatible hues much be chosen. The piece should then be created using this palette and, the palette documented for presentation along side the end product.

•List the 7 kinds of color contrast
•Describe them
•Name the primary colors
•What are secondary colors
•What are tertiary colors

FOR TUESDAY DO THE ITTEN READING.

•Do the reading.

•Recreate 3 of the illustrative examples from the book using photoshop. Use 3 different types of color contrasts (ie: not 3 examples of simultaneous contrast).

•There will be a quiz based on the 1st 2 Itten readings (Page 19-63) on Tuesday.

For Thursday, October 7th

• Read Itten p. 32-63.
•Bring 4 articles.
•Look at logos of 4 magazines, construct pallete from the magazine's logo.
